Château Tour des Termes takes its name from an old tour, or tower, located on a vineyard plot called Les Termes.
The origin of this tower dates back to Gallo-Roman times. Remnants of boat moorings from this period suggest that there was once a lighthouse on this site, probably marking the entrance to an outer harbour of the ancient Gallo-Roman town of Brion a few kilometres away.
The name "des Termes" means "the end of the land".
